Evan Fjeld scored 19 points and Brendan Bald added 17 as Vermont defeated Maine 73-57 on Wednesday night to win its 10th straight game and split the season series.

The Catamounts, who lead the America East Conference, have not dropped a game since losing to Maine 72-58 on Jan. 18.

Vermont (22-5, 13-2) led 40-34 at halftime and shot 61.9 percent from the field in the second half (13 of 21) to take its first 16-point lead at 59-43 with 9:57 to go.

The Black Bears (14-12, 8-6) could get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way, shooting 30.4 percent from the field (7 of 23) after the break.

After hitting 5 of 8 3-pointers in the first half, Maine was 0 for 4 from long range in the second.

Troy Barnies scored 16 points while Alasdair Fraser and Terrance Mitchell had 13 apiece for the Black Bears, who have lost five games in a row after a seven-game winning streak.
