Randy Culpepper scored a game-high 18 points to lead UTEP past Stephen F. Austin 61-52 on Monday night.
The Miners (9-2) led most of the game. They were up 23-17 at halftime and went on to shoot 60 percent from the field in the second period. UTEP led by as many as 18 points with about 4 minutes remaining.
Christian Polk chipped in with 10 points for the Miners.
Jereal Scott picked up a double-double for the Lumberjacks (7-3), scoring 14 points and pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds.

The Lumberjacks led only once, holding a 13-10 advantage midway through the first half after Scott made a jumper to tie it and Amos Olatayo followed with a 3-pointer.
But the Miners regained control quickly, outscoring the Lumberjacks 13-4 before the break.
