Utah Valley blows past Texas-Pan American 67-53

EDINBURG, Texas (AP) Mitch Bruneel scored 16, Holton Hunsaker 15 and Keawe Enos added 14 points as Utah Valley remained undefeated atop the Western Athletic Conference using a balanced attack and dominant first half in defeating Texas-Pan American 67-53 on Thursday night.

Ben Aird grabbed 10 rebounds for the Wolverines who held the Broncs to just 18 first-half points, and led 32-18 at the break.

Utah Valley (13-7, 7-0 WAC) turned a 14-11 first-half lead into a 23-11 breakaway on Bruneel's 3-pointer that capped the 9-0 run in the first period.

UTPA never challenged the Wolverines in the second half. Utah Valley finished hitting 48 percent from the field and made 9 of 19 3-pointers in extending its winning streak to eight games.

Texas-Pan American (6-16, 2-5) was led in scoring by Shaquille Boga with 20 points. The Broncs shot 39 percent and made just 6 of 17 from the free throw line.
