USC-Upstate crushes St. Andrews, 79-39

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) Michael Buchanan scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead South Carolina-Upstate to a convincing 79-39 victory over St. Andrews on Tuesday night.
Ty Greene added 15 points, and Fred Miller and Josh Cuthbertson had 11 each for the Spartans (17-7).
USC-Upstate shot 45.8 percent from the field and dominated the glass, outrebounding St. Andrews 57-28 including a 24-9 edge on the offensive glass. The Spartans entered the game leading the Atlantic Sun Conference in offensive rebounding at better than 13 per game and are 14-4 this season when shooting over 40 percent.
The Spartans started on a 17-6 run and led 51-18 at the break.
Titus Gary led St. Andrews with 10 points and KwaSean McCaskell added eight points.
The game was only the second meeting between the two schools all-time, the first coming in 1998.
