Umipig carries Seattle past UMKC 69-63 in WAC semifinals

LAS VEGAS (AP) Isiah Umipig hit 21 of his 30 points in the first half when he made 7 of his 8 3-pointers to lead third-seeded Seattle into the championship game of the Western Athletic Conference tournament with a 69-63 win over second-seeded Missouri-Kansas City on Friday night.

William Powell added 13 points, Jarell Flora 12 and Jack Crook grabbed 11 rebounds for the Redhawks (16-14), who face league champion New Mexico State in Saturday's championship game.

Deshon Taylor had 16 points and Reese Holliday 15 for the Kangaroos (14-19), who made 17 of 19 free throws and only had five turnovers but shot just 35.2 percent. They shot 26.9 percent in the first half - to 60 percent for Seattle - to fall behind 34-18.

Martez Harrison, UMKC's leading scorer at 17.7 points a game, had one point at the break, finishing 1 for 11 from the field with 12 points, making 9 of 10 free throws.

Seattle never trailed and was up by 10 with 1:30 to play.
