UCLA suspends F Nelson indefinitely

UCLA forward Reeves Nelson has been suspended indefinitely for conduct unbecoming a member of the Bruins' basketball team.

The school made the announcement in a statement Monday night. Coach Ben Howland says Nelson won't be with the team when it hosts Middle Tennessee State on Tuesday.

Nelson's status will be re-evaluated after he and Howland meet later this week. Nelson has openly sulked on the court during games in his career.

The Bruins were 17th in the preseason rankings, but lost to Loyola Marymount 69-58 in their season opener last week, dropping them out of the Top 25 this week. Nelson, a junior from Modesto, Calif., had 13 points and eight rebounds in the loss. He appeared on a regional Sports Illustrated cover last week and was a key returning player for UCLA.
