UC Santa Barbara 74, Chapman 48

James Nunnally scored 20 points to help UC Santa Barbara defeat Chapman 74-48 in a season opener Friday night.
Nunnally, who made 9 of 12 shots, was followed by Orlando Johnson with 14 points and Kyle Boswell with 11. T.J. Taylor added six assists.
With 11 points, Brandon Lin was Chapman's only double-figure scorer.
The Gauchos enjoyed a huge shooting advantage, hitting 29 of 50 shots (58.0 percent) to 17 of 42 (40.5 percent) for the Division III Panthers.
UC Santa Barbara, which never trailed, led 34-22 at halftime. The Gauchos lengthened the lead to 20 points at 62-42 on Boswell's 3-pointer with 5:36 left, and the final score was the largest margin.
The contest was the first of six consecutive home games for UCSB. The Gauchos won't play on the road until Dec. 13 at San Diego.
