UC Davis overcame a first-half rally by Winston-Salem State and pulled away late to win 99-79 Sunday at the BTI Tip-Off Tournament. UC Davis (1-2) charged out to a big lead early behind 11 of junior guard Joe Harden's game-high 26 points, including a fastbreak dunk to help the Aggies take a 20-0 lead with 13:29 remaining in the first half, one of three times the Aggies led by 20. Winston-Salem State (0-3) scored its first bucket of the game on its next possession before going on an 18-6 run late in the first half and tied the game at 39 on a 25-foot 3-pointer by Brian Fisher. The Rams' 42-41 halftime lead was their first of the night after a free throw by Fisher with 30 seconds left in the half. Shelton Carter led the Rams with 19 points, while Harden was followed by teammate Mark Payne's 21 points for UC Davis.
