UC Davis 82, Nicholls 71
Ryan Sypkens scored 23 of his career-high 28 points in the second half as UC Davis rallied for an 82-71 victory over Nicholls State on Saturday at the World Vision Challenge.
The Aggies (4-7) trailed by 10 points early in the second half before Sypkens scored on two 3-pointers and a dunk to close out a 12-1 run and give them a 44-43 lead. Two more 3-pointers from Sypkens and another from Tyler Les gave UC Davis the lead for good at 55-48 with 9:14 remaining.
Nicholls State (1-8), which lost its sixth straight, got 21 points from T.J. Carpenter, 14 from Amin Torres and 10 from Dantrell Thomas.
Corey Hawkins added 19 points for UC Davis. Ryan Howley had 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Josh Ritchart also had 10 points. The Aggies made 10 of 23 3-point attempts - 8 of 12 in the second half - and shot 51 percent overall from the field.
