Tulsa trio sinks Houston 72-54

TULSA, Okla. (AP) James Woodard and Shaquille Harrison scored 18 points apiece and Rashad Smith added 16 as Tulsa defeated Houston 72-54 on Sunday.

Smith surpassed his season-high of 13 points with 14 in the first half as the Golden Hurricane (9-5, 2-0 American Athletic Conference) opened a 37-28 lead on their way to their fourth straight win.

Woodard had 14 points and Harrison 13 in the second half as Tulsa remained in control. The Golden Hurricane shot 49 percent despite missing all 10 3-point attempts and were 26 of 36 from the foul line, 17 of 24 in the second half. Smith grabbed nine rebounds as Tulsa owned the boards 41-26.

Harrison had a streak of five-straight 20-point games end.

Jherrod Stiggers led the Cougars (7-6, 0-2) with 17 points but 10 of those came in the closing minutes. L.J. Rose had 12 points and six assists.
