Tide reinstates top scorer Green

Alabama coach Anthony Grant said Friday leading scorer JaMychal Green will return to the lineup Saturday against Mississippi State after being suspended for the last four games.

Grant said the senior forward will be "dressed and available," but declined to specify whether he would start, AL.com reported.

Green, who was suspended for a violation of team rules, had been reinstated to practice this week, but did not travel to Thursday's 79-68 win at Arkansas. He is averaging a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds per game this season.

Grant, despite having to mete out discipline to several of his key players in recent weeks, has the Crimson Tide (18-9 7-6 SEC) in firm contention for an NCAA Tournament bid.

Forward Tony Mitchell, the team's second-leading scorer and rebounder, was suspended for the rest of the season this week for conduct detrimental to the team.

Green and guards Trevor Releford and Andrew Steele were suspended shortly before the team's Feb. 11 loss at LSU after Grant received information about an incident that occurred before the trip.

Releford and Steele were both reinstated after the game. Meantime, freshman guard Trevor Lacey, is expected to miss Saturday's game after spraining his ankle against Arkansas, Grant said.
