Brad Reese collected 15 points and eight rebounds as Texas Tech beat Louisiana-Monroe 86-67 on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
David Tairu added 13 points and Mike Singletary 10 for Texas Tech. Eleven players scored for the Red Raiders, who shot 54.8 percent from the floor.
Kansas State transfer Fred Brown led Louisiana-Monroe with 25 points and made seven 3-pointers. Lawrence Gilbert added 18 points.
A 14-2 Texas Tech run spanning almost five minutes of the second half took the air out of the Warhawks. Jaye Crockett put an exclamation point on the Red Raiders victory with a right-handed tomahawk dunk with 1:46 remaining.

It was the 11th consecutive opening-game win for Texas Tech.
