Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beats Our Lady of the Lake 94-72

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Rashawn Thomas had a career-high 30 points and 12 rebounds with four blocks as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat NAIA's Our Lady of the Lake 94-72 for a season-opening win on Friday night.

Thomas was 11 of 15 from the floor and 7 of 11 from the free-throw line. Brandon Pye added 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting for the Islanders.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi rolled to a 45-23 advantage at the break, shooting 47.1 percent from the floor while holding Our Lady of The Lake to just 8-of-29 shooting in the first half.

The Islanders won the rebound battle 51-32 and grabbed 38 points in the paint and 22 second chance points.

Darion Brown led Our Lady of the Lake with 14 points. Brandell Collins and Christian Wood-Dvorak scored 12 apiece, and Olajuwon Garner chipped in 11.
