CONWAY, Ark. (AP) John Jordan scored 23 points, including 13 of 16 at the free throw line, and dished out six assists to lead Texas A&M-CC to a 77-70 victory over Central Arkansas on Tuesday night.

The Islanders were in control for the much of the game, using a 16-4 run to build a 43-27 lead at the break. However a late charge by Central Arkansas in the final five minutes, instigated by a 9-0 run capped off by a Jordan Howard four-point play, would cut the Texas A&M-CC lead to six.

But two Jordan free throws and a layup by Ehab Amin quickly pushed the Islanders lead back to 10, effectively ending the comeback bid.

Brandon Pye added 13 points for the Islanders (6-7, 1-0 Southland Conference), and Rashawn Thomas finished with 11 points and nine boards.
