Desi Washington scored 13 of his 23 points in the second half as Saint Peter's overcame a 32-24 halftime deficit to beat Central Connecticut State 64-61 Monday night in a nonconference contest.

The Peacocks (2-0) opened the second half by closing the lead to 34-31, and after allowing the Blue Devils (0-2) to rebuild the advantage to double digits, charged back with an 11-0 run to take a 48-47 lead on Washington's jumper with 8:19 to play.

The game was tied 55-55 with 90 seconds left, then an Yvon Raymond layup and a Washington 3-pointer sparked an 8-3 run that left the Peacocks up 63-58 with 16 seconds left.

Central Connecticut State shot 46.7 percent (14 of 30) in the first half, but just 28 percent (7 of 25) in the second.

Freshman Kyle Vinales turned in a season-best 24 points.
