St. Francis (NY) gets first win, 59-57

NASHVILLE (AP) Jalen Cannon scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead St. Francis Brooklyn to its first victory, 59-57, on Saturday night at the Barclays Center Classic.
Kevin Douglas added 12 points and Brent Jones 11 for the Terriers, the preseason favorites in the Northeast Conference.
The Terriers had a big edge at the free-throw line, making 23 of 39 to the Tigers' 9 of 18. Tennessee State almost made up for it by hitting 8 of 15 3-pointers.
Jay Harris scored 15 points and Marcus Roper 11 for the Tigers (2-5). Christian Mekowulu had 12 rebounds.
Jones made two free throws for a four-point lead with 30 seconds left. Roper hit a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left to cut it to one. The Terriers' Tyreek Jewell added a free throw with 10 seconds left. The game ended as a shot by the Tigers was being tipped around the hoop.
