Akeem Bennett scored a game-high 19 points and the St. Francis (N.Y.) defense shut down Howard in a 70-52 blowout win on Sunday.

The Terriers (1-2) led 35-19 at halftime and extended their lead in the second half thanks to 21-for-45 shooting from the floor (46.7 percent). The St. Francis defense held the Bison to 16-of-46 shooting (34.8 percent) and held every Howard player, except one, to fewer than 10 points.

Dadrian Collins scored 17 for the Bison (1-3) and Clinton Cuffee added nine.

St. Francis won despite shooting 1 of 11 from 3-point range (9.1 percent). The Terriers were 27 for 39 from the free-throw line (69.2 percent).

Ricky Cadell added 13 points for the Terriers, while Dre Calloway had 12 and Akeem Johnson 11.
