Malcolm Miller scored 17 points and four other Southern University players scored in double figures in a 90-36 rout against Champion Baptist on Saturday.

Javan Mitchell finished with 16 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Jaguars (2-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Derick Beltran and Aaron Alston each had 13 points, and Jameel Grace added 10 points and seven assists.

Southern claimed a 30-5 lead on Mitchell's layup with 7:04 left in the first half. The Jaguars shot a superb 64.4 percent (38 of 59) from the floor for the game and displayed solid defense against Champion Baptist, holding it to 23.7 percent (14 of 59).

Champion Baptist, an NAIA team, never posed a threat against Southern, which built an 86-34 lead - its largest of the game - when Miller scored on a layup with 3:57 remaining.

Brandon Likins scored 21 points for Champion Baptist.
