Gary Flowers led Southern Mississippi with 31 points and the Golden Eagles blew past Alcorn State 100-71 Wednesday night.

Southern Miss' 100 points is a season high. The Golden Eagles have scored 80 or more points in three of their five games. Last year, they scored 80 points three times in 34 contests.

Alcorn State led for the first 13 minutes, but Southern Miss tied the score at 22 before taking the lead on Josimar Ayarza's dunk with 7 minutes left in the half.

The Golden Eagles never trailed again.

Flowers scored 21 of his 31 points in the second half as the Golden Eagles turned a 43-38 halftime lead into a 29-point route.

R.L Horton had 17 and Ayarza added 15 points for the Golden Eagles (5-0).

Marquiz Baker scored 15 to lead Alcorn State (0-6).
