Sean Miller has emerged as Maryland’s top target.

Sources told FOXSports.com that Miller, who led Arizona to the Elite Eight this past season, is expected to meet with Maryland athletic director Kevin Anderson today in Las Vegas.

Miller will speak at a Nike Coaches Clinic in Las Vegas, ironically, following Pittsburgh’s Jamie Dixon – who was also believed to be high atop Anderson’s wish list to replace Gary Williams.

Miller, 42, is from Pennsylvania and coached in the ACC as an assistant at North Carolina State. Despite the fact that he led Arizona to an improbable Elite Eight appearance this past season and has a terrific recruiting class coming in this year, he has always – according to those close to him – held the Maryland job in high regard.

Sources close to Miller also indicated that his wife prefers to get back to the East Coast.

Miller spent five seasons as the head coach at Xavier before going to Arizona two years ago. The Wildcats were 30-8 this past season and lost to UConn in the Elite Eight.

Despite the loss of star Derrick Williams to the NBA, Arizona will still be able to compete for the Pac-10 title this season due to a recruiting class loaded with elite talent – including guards Josiah Turner and Nick Johnson.

If he opts to go to Maryland, it would be somewhat of a rebuilding process. The Terps didn’t make the NCAA tournament last season and lost their best player, sophomore big man Jordan Williams, to the NBA.
