Jalen Jones had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead SMU to a 67-52 victory against Alcorn State on Saturday night in the third-place game of the Cable Car Classic.

Nick Russell added 14 points and Shawn Williams 12 for the Mustangs (9-4).

Marquiz Baker scored 24 points for the Braves (2-11), but he shot just 7 of 20 from the floor, including 4 of 15 from 3-point range.

SMU - which shot 52.4 percent (22 of 42) from the floor, outrebounded Alcorn State 35-23 and enjoyed a 34-16 scoring edge in the paint - led 33-23 at halftime and built the cushion to 18 points in the second half. The Mustangs made 20 of 21 (95.2 percent) free-throw attempts, the sixth-best percentage in school history.

The Braves shot just 32.7 percent (16 of 49) from the field.
