SIU-Edwardsville defeats Austin Peay 83-68

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Donivine Stewart and Rozell Nunn scored 17 points each to lead SIU-Edwardsville in an 83-68 victory over Austin Peay on Saturday night.

Stewart made 3 of 5 3-pointers and Nunn shot 6 of 12 from the floor. The Cougars combined for 57.1-percent shooting and got 23 points from their bench, compared to 10 for Austin Peay.

SIU-Edwardsville (11-16, 7-6 Ohio Valley Conference) overcame 17 turnovers by grabbing 16 more rebounds than the Governors.

The score was tied at 50 midway through the second half, but a 20-7 run put the Cougars ahead 70-60 with 3:24 to go. SIU-Edwardsville made 7 of 8 from the free-throw line in the final 2 minutes to close out the game.

Travis Betran led the Governors (11-15, 5-7) with 19 points, Ed Dyson added 14 and Zavion Williams 11, and Chris Horton finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

SIU-Edwardsville has now won five of its last seven games.
