Savannah St. evens record, holds off Georgia Southern, 76-67

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Casey Wells' 3-pointer with 25 seconds left sealed Savannah State's 76-67 win over Georgia Southern Wednesday night.

Mike Hughes hit a late 3-pointer and Tookie Brown hit a pair of free throws with 51 seconds left to pull Georgia Southern within two, 69-67. But Wells answered from deep, Javaris Jenkins hit a pair of free throws and Khalen Pinkett stole the ball from Ike Smith and got to the rim for a layup with 12 seconds left to put the game away.

Kamil Williams hit a 3-pointer with 35 seconds left in the first half to send Savannah State into halftime with a 37-32 lead.

Chris Martin scored 18 points and Troyce Manassa added another 16 to lead the Tigers (4-4), who shot 53.2 percent from the field (25 of 47).

Smith and Brown both scored 13 points to lead Georgia Southern (3-4).
