Cameron Catlett had a career-high 23 points while Armani Williams scored 11 for the Mavericks (11-11, 5-4).
Sam Houston State led 56-43 with 8:52 remaining before Texas-Arlington whittled away the lead, getting as close as four on five occasions. The Bearkats didn't allow the Mavericks to get any closer and sealed the win by hitting 11-of-14 free throws in the final 1:52.
