Sacramento State holds off Idaho State 84-78

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) Mikh McKinney scored 28 points and Dylan Garrity 23 as Sacramento State defeated Idaho State 84-78 on Thursday night despite going without a field goal for the final 6 minutes.

Sacramento State (7-11, 3-6 Big Sky) took off to a 52-27 first-half lead. The 52 points were a Hornets season best for a half, as were their 69 percent shooting and eight 3-pointers.

The Hornets were up 71-54 after McKinney made their last field goal. From there, the Bengals went on a 13-2 run to close within six points with 1:49 left. But Garrity scored Sacramento State's next seven points on free throws and McKinney and Dreon Bartlett added two apiece to secure the victory.

The Hornets shot only 25.9 percent after their blistering first half.

Tomas Sanchez and Andre Hatchett each had 17 points and eight assists for the Bengals (7-11, 4-5). Chris Hansen added 15 points.
