Rowsey, Zilli lift UNC-Ashville over Longwood 71-56

ASHVILLE, N.C. (AP) Andrew Rowsey scored 22 points, Giacoma Zilli had career highs of 16 points and 14 rebounds and UNC-Ashville dominated the second half for a 71-56 win over Longwood on Friday.

The Bulldogs (12-11, 8-4 Big South) trailed 33-23 at the half but opened the second half with a 13-2 run to take a 36-35 lead on a three-point play by Will Weeks at the 13:28 mark. Zilli scored the first seven points in the surge.

Longwood (7-18, 3-9) took its last lead, 41-40, on a Shaquille Johnson dunk at 11:43 but Ashville made six straight free throws that turned into a 14-3 run for a 54-44 lead at 7:38.

The Bulldogs had a 51-25 rebounding advantage, including 20-8 on the offensive end, led by Zilli's nine. Weeks had 10 boards.

Johnson and Quincy Taylor had 19 points apiece for the Lancers.
