Richmond pulls away from William & Mary 86-78, OT

Darien Brothers led five players in double-figures with 20 points to help Richmond pull away from William & Mary 86-78 in overtime Wednesday night in the 198th meeting between the programs.
Derrick Williams added 17, Kendall Anthony 15, Greg Robbins 14, and Cedrick Lindsay 12. Williams also grabbed 11 rebounds for the Spiders (5-2) while Lindsay, who missed the previous two games with a concussion, dished out a team high six assists.
Richmond led 76-72 in overtime before Marcus Thornton hit a 3-pointer to draw the Tribe (4-2) within 76-75 with 2:07 left. But the Spiders outscored William & Mary 8-3 over the final 2 minutes to put the game away.
Richmond outshot William & Mary 50 percent (28 of 56) to 48.3 percent (29 of 60) and made a season-high 90 percent (19 of 21) of its free throws.
Thornton led the Tribe with 22 points.
