Arsalan Kazemi scored 20 points and Rice defeated TCU 70-61 on Sunday.
Connor Frizzelle added 14 points for the Owls (8-6), Tamir Jackson had 12 and Trey Stanton 11.
Hank Thorns scored 18 points to lead the Horned Frogs (9-6), who were without leading scorer Ronnie Moss. Moss suffered a concussion in a loss to Tulsa on Thursday.
Rice never led in the first half but went into halftime with the score tied at 30 after Frizzelle hit a 3-pointer with 6 second left. The Owls then scored the first 11 points of the second half and led the rest of the way. TCU never got closer than four after that.

Rice fell behind 15-5 with 14:09 to play before rallying. The Owls closed the first half on a 7-3 run with Frizzelle scoring five of those points.
