Report: Roberts out at St. John's

The Norm Roberts Era appears to be over after six seasons at St. John’s.
Roberts’ contract will not be renewed for next season, the New York Post reported, citing sources.
Roberts, a local guy who attended Queens College, was unable to get the Red Storm over the hump.
Roberts entered this season with a 64-85 overall mark and was unable to get St. John’s into the NCAA tournament in his tenure and was also unable to get the Red Storm into the top 10 of the Big East standings.
The Red Storm finished this season with a 16-15 overall record and a 6-12 mark in Big East play.
Roberts was a former Bill Self assistant at Kansas, Illinois, Tulsa and Oral Roberts who wasn’t the first choice at St. John’s. He was hired back in April of 2004.
The 44-year-old was well-liked, but had a difficult task -- especially with the lack of talent that has come out of the area in recent years.
