Purdue guard John Hart has had surgery on his right foot to repair a stress fracture and the recovery is expected to take 12 to 16 weeks.
Coach Matt Painter made the announcement in a release Friday.
Hart will be a junior next season and the timeline could keep him off the court when practice opens in mid-October.
Last season, the Indiana native averaged 3.8 points and shot 36.7 percent from the field in 20 games despite being hindered by foot injuries. Hart has averaged 3.0 points and 10.2 minutes in his first two seasons with the Boilermakers. Purdue opens its season Nov. 11 against Northern Illinois.
