Purdue loses Hummel again

Purdue senior forward Robbie Hummel will
miss the upcoming
basketball season with another torn
anterior cruciate
ligament in his right knee.
Hummel was hurt during practice on Saturday. He also suffered a
torn ACL in
his right knee last February 24 and sat out the remainder of
the campaign.
"This is obviously disappointing for Robbie, as well as our
team, since he
worked so hard to return from the tear he suffered in
February," said Purdue
head coach Matt Painter.
Hummel was Purdue's second-leading scorer when he was hurt last
February. He
averaged 15.7 points and 6.9 rebounds in 27 games last
season, and was the
team's top three-point threat.
The Boilermakers were 24-3 when Hummel was lost for the season
and finished
29-6 with a loss to eventual national champion Duke in the
regional semifinals
of the NCAA Tournament.
