Purdue 78, Coppin St. 57

Robbie Hummel scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half and Purdue defeated Coppin State 78-57 on Saturday.
Hummel added eight rebounds for the Boilermakers (6-1), who won their 21st straight home game. Ryne Smith added 14 points, Terone Johnson 11 and Anthony Johnson 10. Lewis Jackson had 10 assists. Purdue racked up a 32-8 advantage in bench points.
Tony Gallo led Coppin State (1-4) with 17 points and eight assists. Akeem Ellis scored 12 points.
Coppin State trimmed a 15-point first-half deficit to 48-43 with 14:08 remaining, but the Boilermakers turned to Hummel, who scored eight in a row - including a pair of 3-pointers - and Purdue eventually opened a 61-46 lead with 9:13 to play.
Coppin State got no closer than 13 thereafter as Purdue finished the game with a 25-11 run.
