Chase Holmes scored 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Presbyterian over Southern 71-69 in the final round of the Las Vegas Invitational on Saturday. Holmes was 7 of 11 from the field and 8 of 9 from the free-throw line as the Blue Hose (1-5) rallied from a 14-point second-half deficit for their first victory of the season. Jake Troyli added 17 points and six rebounds for Presbyterian, while Travis Smith had 15 points, nine assists and two steals. Jazz Williams led Southern (0-6) with 19 points and four rebounds. Earnest Jones added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Jameel Grace had 13 points and four assists for the Jaguars. Southern led for most of the game, including 39-31 at halftime and 45-31 with 18:05 left in the game. But the Blue Hose rallied and took the lead for good, 65-64, on a Khalid Mutakabbir basket with 2:24 left in the game.
