Portland St. 73, Utah Valley St. 53

Charles Odum scored 17 points to lead Portland State to a 73-53 nonconference victory over Utah Valley on Thursday night.
Chris Harriel added 14 points for the Vikings (7-5), who snapped a three-game losing streak. Melvin Jones chipped in with 13 points.
Isiah Williams led Utah Valley (5-7) with 26 points but was the only Wolverine in double figures.
The Vikings, who never trailed, broke open a close game late in the first half with a 13-1 run that put them ahead 35-19 after Harriel connected on a 3-pointer with 4:10 left. The Vikings expanded the lead to 22 points in the second half, and Utah Valley never seriously challenged the rest of the way.
Portland State made the Wolverines pay for each of their 18 turnovers and finished the game with a 31-6 points-off-turnovers advantage. Both teams shot 36 percent.
