LOS ANGELES (AP) UCLA's planned basketball training and performance facility that will house the school's men's and women's basketball programs will be named for Mo Ostin, the music executive who has committed $10 million to the project.
Athletic director Dan Guerrero announced Ostin's involvement on Tuesday.
The building will be located near Pauley Pavilion at the south end of the Los Angeles Tennis Center. It will include locker rooms, training areas, a strength and conditioning facility, coaches' offices, team meeting rooms and video rooms.
Ostin earned a bachelor's in economics from UCLA and is chairman emeritus of Warner Bros. Records. He worked with Frank Sinatra, the Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, Prince and Red Hot Chili Peppers during his career. Ostin was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. He spent 32 years at Warner Bros. and later worked in music for DreamWorks SKG.
A year ago, UCLA announced plans to raise private funds for the project and has received $15 million in cash and pledges so far. The project, estimated to cost between $30 million and $40 million, is set to break ground this fall.
