Pitt's Gibbs won't play against 'Nova

Pittsburgh junior guard Ashton Gibbs won’t play tonight against ninth- ranked Villanova.
Gibbs, who suffered an MCL injury to his left knee last weekend, was optimistic of returning against the Wildcats tonight.
However, a source told FOXSports.com that Pittsburgh’s leading scorer will be held out.
Gibbs is averaging a team-high 16.3 points per game and is shooting 46 percent from beyond the arc. He had 25 points in a victory over Cincinnati last Saturday and has been replaced by Travon Woodall in the starting lineup.
Pittsburgh coach Jamie Dixon is making the right move here not to rush Gibbs back. The fourth-ranked Panthers are in the drivers’ seat for the Big East regular-season title with a 22-2 overall record and a 10-1 league mark, but more importantly, they’ll need a healthy Gibbs to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
Pittsburgh’s next game is Wednesday against South Florida at home.
