Pittsburgh senior guard Ashton Gibbs will not play in the College Basketball Invitational championship series game against Washington State because of a right ankle injury.

Gibbs missed practices on and off all season because of the ankle injury but had not missed a game until tonight. Gibbs, an all-Big East honorable mention and the preseason conference player of the year, has averaged 14.6 points and 2.1 assists this season. He scored seven points on 2-of-7 shooting Monday in a 67-66 loss to Washington State, the first game in the best-of-three series.
