Pitino 'happy' in Minnesota despite reports tying him to other jobs

Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino isn't going anywhere.
Amid reports that he was added to Alabama's list of coaching candidates, Pitino issued a statement Friday pledging his allegiance to the school.
"With regard to the reports tying me to other collegiate men's coaching positions, let me simply say that I am very happy at the University of Minnesota." Pitino said in a press release. "I am grateful to be coaching and living in such a great community that cares so much about this incredible university as well as its basketball program. I am also extremely fortunate to be working for one of the best athletic directors in the country in Norwood Teague. This state deserves a great basketball program and we are working extremely hard to bring them one."
Pitino guided the Golden Gophers to an 18-15 record this season, missing both the NCAA Tournament and NIT.
Alabama fired former head coach Anthony Grant on March 15 after his sixth season with the school.
