Pearl's son takes Twitter jab at Vols

Steven Pearl, the son of former University of Tennessee basketball coach Bruce Pearl, and a senior on the Volunteers' hoops squad, took a jab via Twitter at his father's newly appointed replacement Cuonzo Martin, Deadspin reported Monday.

The senior forward, who averaged less than 11 minutes per game off the bench this season, wrote, "All I can do is laugh and say good luck sir," according to Deadspin.

The Twitter account noted in the report, which is believed to be Pearl's, is not accessible without approval from its user.

The 23-year-old marketing major allegedly posted the comment before deleting the account, according to Deadspin.

Bruce Pearl, who is the subject of an NCAA investigation in which he admitted lying to investigators in relation to 10 alleged major rule violations, was fired by the university last week after six seasons in Knoxville.

The 51-year-old coach was 145-61 in his time at Tennessee. The Vols were blown out in the first round of the NCAA Tournament by Michigan two weeks ago and finished the season 19-15 overall and 8-8 in Southeastern Conference play.

Tennessee announced Sunday it had tapped Martin, 39, to be the school's new coach. Martin amassed a 61-41 record in three seasons at Missouri State, and led the Bears to their first ever Missouri Valley Conference regular season championship this season.
