Old Dominion cruises to 71-56 win over FIU

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) Trey Freeman and Jonathan Arledge pumped in 17 points apiece to lead Old Dominion to a 71-56 win over Florida International on Thursday night.

Freeman also hauled in seven rebounds and dished out five assists, while Aaron Bacote added 15 points to help ODU (16-4, 5-3 Conference USA) extend its home court win streak to 15.

Trailing by eight at the break, Florida International (9-10, 2-4) stayed close through much of the second half and cut the gap to six with a 3-pointer from Ray Rodriguez that made it 56-50 with 5:41 left. The Monarchs quickly poured in nine unanswered points, including a 3-pointer from Jordan Baker, to rebuild a double-figure lead they protected down the stretch.

Adrian Diaz led FIU with 17 points, while Dennis Mavin added 16 points to go with 10 rebounds and four assists.
