Northeastern holds off Western Michigan, 81-69

BOSTON (AP) Scott Eatherton scored 22 points on 9-of-15 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, and led Northeastern to an 81-69 win over Western Michigan on Saturday.

David Walker finished with 19 points for Northeastern (6-2), and Quincy Ford added 13 points, four assists, and three steals.

The Huskies were outshot by the Broncos, 46 percent to 44, but beat Western Michigan by 14 on the boards and hit 13 more free throws.

Northeastern built a 35-25 lead at halftime, helped in large part by a 19-7 stretch to start the game. A pair of Walker free throws would extend the Bulldogs lead to 16 with 6:13 left. Western Michigan mounted a late comeback, cutting the lead down to six at one point, but would get no further.

Austin Richie scored 18 to lead the Broncos (5-3). Connar Tava added 16 for Western Michigan.
