North Texas holds off Texas Arlington 87-83

Tristan Thompson had 29 points and nine rebounds, both career highs, George Odufuwa added 10 points and 14 rebounds and North Texas held on to defeat Texas-Arlington 87-83 Tuesday night.
Josh White hit five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points for the Mean Green (5-1), who won their third straight and ended the Mavericks' four-game winning streak.
LaMarcus Reed scored 21 points, including five 3s, to lead Texas-Arlington (5-2), which trailed 45-29 at halftime and by 20 early in the second half before rallying.
Reed hit back-to-back 3s to cap a 32-10 run that gave Texas Arlington a 71-69 advantage with 7:13 to play. After regaining the lead, North Texas made eight straight free throws in the closing minutes to secure the victory.
Dominique Johnson added 11 points and seven assists for the Mean Green.
Both teams made 12 3-pointers.
