Parker Smith scored 16 points, including five in a key run, to lead North Florida over South Carolina-Upstate 65-59 on Saturday night.

The Ospreys (6-12, 3-4 Atlantic Sun Conference) trailed 49-48 with 8:35 left on a layup by USC Upstate's Torrey Craig.

North Florida then scored six straight to lead 54-49 on Smith's layup with 5:09 left.

The Spartans (2-15, 1-6) brought it to 61-59 on Josh Chavis' 3-pointer. But the Ospreys made all four of their free throws the rest of the way to seal it.

Smith was 4 of 8 from 3-point range as North Florida made 41.7 percent of its shots from long range (10 of 24).

Matt Sauey was 6 of 6 from the field for 12 points, Jerron Granberry scored 11 and Jimmy Williams 10 for the Ospreys.

USC Upstate, which lost its ninth straight, was led by Craig's 20 points. Chavis added 13 points and Babatunde Olumuyiwa had 11 rebounds.
