North Dakota State holds on to beat IPFW 66-62

FARGO, N.D. (AP) Lawrence Alexander nailed 5 of 9 from long range to finish with 10 of 19 shooting from the field and 27 points as North Dakota State held on to beat Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne 66-62 on Saturday.

IPFW took its first lead, 45-42, with 10:21 left. Kory Brown answered for the Bison when he got inside for a layup to start a 16-4 run for a 58-49 lead with 3:57 left. IPFW's Joe Edwards scored six straight to close to 62-59 with 1:39 remaining, but Carlin Dupree made four consecutive free throws to seal the win.

A.J. Jacobson had 16 points and Dupree added 11 for North Dakota State (20-8, 12-3 Summit League), which has won seven of its last eight and remains tied for first with South Dakota State.

Edwards made 4 of 7 from beyond the arc to total 20 points and lead IPFW (15-12, 8-6), which had won eight straight.
