Norfolk St. 72, Md.-Eastern Shore 60

Chris McEachin tied his season high with 20 points and Kyle O'Quinn added 18 as Norfolk State held off Maryland-Eastern Shore 72-60 Monday night to set a program Division I season record for wins with 17.
The Spartans (17-8, 9-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) surpassed the 16 wins posted by the 2007-08 squad while snapping a two-game losing streak and sweeping the season series.
The Hawks (5-17, 2-7), who have lost five of their last six games, led only at 2-0.
After Norfolk State took a 35-21 halftime advantage, Maryland-Eastern Shore got within four points on five occasions, the last at 58-54 with 2:34 remaining.
Rodney McCauley, who added 12 points for the Spartans, answered with a dunk, then Norfolk State made 12 of 12 free throws to seal the win.
Hillary Haley scored 20 points and Tyler Hines had 13 for the Hawks, who also lost 78-72 on Jan. 7.
