New Mexico State hangs on, beating CSUB 89-86

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) Daniel Mullins scored four crucial points in the final 48 seconds and led New Mexico State with 19 points in defeating Cal State Bakersfield 89-86 on Thursday night.

New Mexico State (16-7, 5-2 Western Athletic Conference) outscored the Roadrunners 47-36 at the break before CSUB mounted a second half comeback.

Cal State Bakersfield (8-13, 1-6) outscored the Aggies 50-42 in the second period and a Roadrunner 13-0 run that ended with 5 minutes to play in the second period gave CSUB a 80-74 lead.

The Aggies took their turn and scored six unanswered points to lead CSUB 81-80. Mullins later scored on a layup and two free throws wrapped around a Sim Bhullar free throw and New Mexico went up 88-84. With 12 seconds to play, the Aggies had all the points they needed to ice the victory.

Issiah Grayson paced CSUB with 20 points.
