Hernst Laroche had 18 points and five steals Wednesday night as New Mexico State beat Western New Mexico 92-65.

Wendell McKines also scored 18 points and Hamidu Rahman had 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Aggies (6-4), who had lost their previous three games.

Western New Mexico scored the first five points, but the Aggies went ahead for good at 9-7 and then used a 29-5 run to pull away. New Mexico State led 53-32 at halftime and by as many as 31 points in the second half.

The Mustangs (2-6), who play in Division II, were led by TJ Riley with 21 points. Chad Carter added 18 points.

The Aggies owned a 46-27 advantage on the boards with 17 offensive rebounds, 21 second-chance points and 32 points in the paint.

NMSU shot 49 percent from the field while Western shot 39 percent.
