Nebraska-Omaha beats in-state foe Peru State 86-62

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) Mike Rostampour made all 10 of his field goal attempts and finished with a career-high 24 points and 12 rebounds as Nebraska-Omaha beat in-state foe Peru State College 86-62 on Wednesday.

Rostampour had 18 points and eight rebounds at the break for Omaha (14-9). CJ Carter added 18 points, on 7-of-13 shooting, and Justin Simmons had 10. Rostampour, a junior transfer, recorded his first double-double for the Mavericks.

Peru State, a NAIA team, was led by Kody Kirkpatrick and Taylor Christensen with 12 points each. Peru State turned the ball over 16 times in the first half and 12 times after the break.

Omaha led just 14-13 after 8 minutes, but then closed the half on a 34-6 run. The Mavericks led by as many as 34 and never saw their lead drop below 22 points in the second half.

Peru State lost to South Dakota 80-40 on Tuesday.
