NC Wilmington pulls away in 110-93 win over VMI

LEXINGTON, Va. (AP) Freddie Jackson scored 26 points and snagged 12 rebounds to lead North Carolina-Wilmington to a 110--93 win over VMI on Saturday night.

UNCW (2-1) opened the second half with a 9-0 burst sparked by a Jackson 3-pointer to make it 55-45 with 18:11 to go.

Jackson shot 12 of 21 from the floor in the win, the first triple-digit score for the Seahawks since a 115-95 victory over VMI in 2009.

Cedric Williams contributed 23 points, hitting 10 of 12 shots, and 12 rebounds, Addison Spruill added 20 points and Malik Pugh had 16 for UNCW, which shot 59.5 percent from the floor.

VMI (2-2), which made 13 of 29 3-pointers, was led by QJ Peterson with 27 points. He was 8 of 17 from the floor, hitting all three of his 3's, and made 8 of 10 free throws. Tim Marshall added 17 and Brian Brown 16.
