P.J. Miller scored 12 points and New Jersey Institute of Technology defeated St. Joseph's (N.Y.) 65-57 on Saturday.
The win snapped a three-game losing streak for NJIT (2-4).
The Highlanders led 36-19 at halftime, then built its largest lead of the game at 19 points early in the second half. St. Joseph's rallied by making 10 of 14 3-pointers in the second half to cut the lead to 61-57 in the final minute. But the Highlanders made all four of their free throw attempts in the final 47 seconds to secure the win.
NJIT won despite committing a season-high 24 turnovers.
St. Joseph's overcame a 23.3 percent (7 for 30) from the field in the first half to shoot 56.4 percent (13 for 23) in the following half in the losing effort.
The Bears (2-5), a Division III team, was led by Donald Coleman with 16 points. Thomas Karasinski added 13 points.
